Prince William has been Cleared to Serve with the Royal Airforce

Despite an upsurge in violence in Northern Ireland, Prince William has been cleared to serve with the Royal Airforce (RAF) in the province, a British daily reported. On joining the forces in Ulster, William – the second in line to the throne – will become the first member of the Royal Family to serve there since the troubles began more than 40 years ago.

The 27-year-old Prince is in the final stages of his training to be an RAF search-and-rescue helicopter pilot, the Daily Express reported. Senior officers of the force ruled that after being recruited William, must be available to be called out anywhere in the UK in his role as a flight lieutenant in the search-and-rescue force.

“If he’s on duty, he’s got to take the cab wherever he is needed and that includes Northern Ireland,” said an officer.
